New on DVD and Blu-Ray

When the person getting the most exposure on home video in a given week is Jim Belushi (and not even respectable David Lynch collaborator Jim Belushi, but mediocre leading man Jim Belushi), you know shit is bad. This is a pretty pathetic week for home video all around, with Warner Archive’s Blu-Ray of the original Village of the Damned being the only catalog title even worth considering (unless, of course, you’re all about the Belush). New titles are better almost by default, with a whopping two worth checking out; the latest Reitman/Cody collaboration, Tully, and the first season of the J.K. Simmons-centric Starz series Counterpart.

Counterpart: The Complete First Season (Lionsgate)
Dark Crimes (Lionsgate)
Mr. Destiny (Kino)
Overboard (Lionsgate)
Piranha II: The Spawning (Shout Factory)
Taking Care of Business (Kino)
Tully (Universal)
Village of the Damned (Warner)
