Just how much did the DCAU influence the comics themselves? I know Harley Quinn started out in Batman TAS and that’s one DCAU-looking Raven up there.

Also, The Bomb: there has to be some sort of underboob limit out there, and when you break that limit it’s not underboob, it’s just normal flopping around. What I’m trying to say is, that looks like a highly impractical outfit to do some John Woo twinpackin’ in (…so to speak.)

This month’s Phantom is a good one. It’s about a hunter named Norman Melville (!) who has for years been pursuing a great white elephant (!), but an elephant never forgets and so the hunter becomes the hunted and also The Phantom is there.

Is this from March 2008? Is Spidey calling the election when the primaries aren’t even done? Also where are they that he’s freezing? Is he saying because Obama won the presidency – far from a sure thing in March of 2008 – that Hell froze over? Or is he dipping his head into a mountain of snow?

Joss Whedon is at once writing the Buffy comic – something that he’d do for some time to come, and that he is still involved with – and Runaways. The former is, at this moment, one of the better comics around, even if Joss really gets lost in the weeds by the end of “Season 8.” The latter is pretty forgettable, even though Joss was one of Runaways’ most vocal supporters as a fan.

And, yup, the Silver Age Flash is back, over 30 years after he died and became the patron saint of the DC Universe. I still can’t tell you why he had to come back.
