I’m somewhat disappointed to hear that the four Jackie Chan movies from 1985 that I haven’t seen aren’t that great, but due to his phenomenal workrate, there are still plenty of top-end Chan films I haven’t seen, and this article made me keen to seek them out. I had a big Chan phase about 10 years ago but barely scratched the surface. I love Who Am I? so much, though.

I really like this in particular: “It’s more believable that Jackie Chan is also a police detective in Hong Kong than it is that somebody who is not Jackie Chan could move like that.” That’s the beautiful and terrible implacability of stardom, to know so completely who a person is that the idea of character becomes ridiculous.

(The show took a lot of chances in season 21 on fully running with really simple, absurd premises; the very first sketch of this season was the “Get off the shed!” sketch.)
