Alternate joke for the Frank Miller Daredevil cover:

  • Rosy Fingers

I kinda love that Weird Western Tales cover.

This issue of The Phantom has the “Founding of The Jungle Patrol” which is about Phantom’s paramilitary organisation of which he’s the “Secret Commander”. He started the Jungle Patrol by beating up Redbeard the Pirate and a bunch of his goons and installing them as rulers of the jungle. Nothing troubling about that! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f7c21a690fc46aea9f4b799d21950dc09639d7a83759e2cfbce8f37a4616f032.jpg

I love that they saved their most blatantly imperialist cover for decades after everyone realized that was a bad idea.

      • Rosy Fingers

Honestly, 2001 is not turning out to be a good year for Phantom keeping his colonialist tendencies under wraps.

  • Irish Eyes Of A Gnu Generation

Who is Tom Tom The Robot Man? And does he give better directions than Garmin Garmin The Robot Man?

  • The Ploughman

The Ultimate Marvel Team-Up cover is disconcertingly similar to a certain infamous Yogi Bear poster.

    • Rosy Fingers

I adore that poster. It’s such a meaningless pun that it qualifies as a single entendre. There can be no other meaning except for the filthy one.
