New on DVD and Blu-Ray

This week is a comedown from weeks past in quantity, but at the very least, there is quality material to be had. For once, it’s the new releases that have the best stuff, including Debra Granik’s long-awaited return to narrative cinema, Leave No Trace, Eugene Jarecki’s documentary on Elvis’s legacy, The King, and Bruno Dumont’s musical(!) retelling of the Joan of Arc story, Jeannette. Catalog titles are mostly held up by Kino, particularly their release of Robert Siodmak’s The Spiral Staircase, with Criterion just giving us an upscale of their DVD of Cornel Wilde’s The Naked Prey.
