Lucky me! There's only one thing that could possibly go wrong in this scenario!

The Potentially Annual Solute Book Club Book Drive

Babalugats here to welcome you to the potentially annual Solute Book Club book drive.  Can you believe we’ve been at this for a full year? Honestly, I can. It’s been a very long year. But you know what hasn’t been awful? Wait, let me start over.

Hey clubbers, after 12 wild months of genre hopping soul scorching time traveling sacrilegious fun and terror we’ve just about exhausted our reserves, so what do you say? Let’s fill up the tanks and go for another round.

With only a few book selections yet to be covered, it’s time for another sign up drive. Anyone interested in leading a discussion can post a comment with the title and author they want to cover, and any scheduling preferences or considerations they have. Once we’ve got a full batch, I’ll set the schedule, and we’ll post it some time next week.

For those that are new to Book Club; Each month one Soluter will introduce a new book and lead a discussion of it. This will include a short piece at the start of the month, and a longer essay at the end of the month. The style, content, shape, size, and tone of these pieces will be totally up to the discussion leader. They can be in-depth thoroughly researched analytical essays, personal experiences of your relationship and connection with the book, critical thrashings, gooey praise, or a few brief discussion prompts. When you’ve got the floor, it’s your show.  If you want to take part in the club, but do not want to be a discussion leader, that’s also perfectly fine.

Anyone who is interested is welcome to participate. And that includes anyone who is still on the schedule (so you, Tristan). There are no restrictions on your choice of book, (excluding books already covered) although Julius has requested no Dan Brown.

Remaining schedule:

Unfortunately, Clytie won’t be able to cover Speak for us in August. Luckily our good general has agreed to jump up a month, which leaves us with an open spot for September. [This has been filled currently with the public domain selection Agatha Christie’s The Secret Adversary –ed.]

August: Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams (Drunk Napoleon)

September: The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie (TBD)

October: Books of Blood Vol 1 by Clive Barker (Babalugats)

Soluters! Post the title you’re willing to host in the comments below, and watch for the schedule of books for the coming months.
