For reasons that remain a mystery, to me most of all, we’re entering our fifth year of Years of the Month here on The Solute.
It’s hard for me to imagine frequent Dissolve commenter and former Dissolve Facebook member Lark Lundberg (using a different name at the time) ever had that in mind when they introduced the concept to the group back in 2017.*
I certainly didn’t expect it to still be such a huge part of my life when I brought it here to keep my writing and editing skills in trim while I got around to kickstarting my career in fiction, let alone that it would end up determining my career path as a film writer.
(Just in case, though, I did crunch the numbers on how long we could keep it going. Good news! We’ve still got another three years left before we run out of years!)
Who knows if we’ll ever get that far. But assuming we make it to the end of 2022 (seeming less likely all the time), here’s what the almight random number generator has bestowed upon us:
January: 1975
February: 1933
March: Intersectional Femivision
April: 2006
May: Decade of the Month: The ’20s
June: 1967
July: 1987
August: 1992
September: 1956
October: 1988
November: 1942
December: 2002
* I especially doubt they’d expect we’d cycle back to the year that started it all, in which a discussion of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest got so heated that some dude’s dad logged into his account to yell at us for being too mean to him.
