Coming hot off the heels of the not at all controversial motion picture Birdman, Alejandro González Iñárritu has a new movie coming out this Christmas called The Revenant. He’s got a helluva cast lined up for the project (Leonardo DiCaprio stars and Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson co-star) and I’m sure 20th Century Fox would love to replicate the Oscar success of Birdman here. Not a lot of plot going on here, but there is a ton of gorgeous imagery going on and a frantic sense of energy that’s hard to resist. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Birdman, but I do admire some of that movies themes and the majority of its acting, so hopefully The Revenant can truly go the extra mile and live up to its potential. Plus, both DiCaprio and Hardy have been on a roll lately, and the idea of them bouncing off each other is enough to grab my attention.
