New on DVD and Blu-Ray

Jesus, what a dire week. Kino are just about the only ones putting in the work here, especially with their box set of Hitchcock’s early British films. I guess there’s also Shout Factory giving Snow Falling on Cedars a 4K restoration, but who gives a shit about Snow Falling on Cedars? And there’s The Kitchen, which is only interesting for taking the ultimate “whaddya need, a road map?” concept (Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss fucking shit up in the 70s) and squandering it so badly no one can muster even a half-hearted defense of it. If you want to be in constant fear of whether an Elisabeth Moss character will kill someone on-screen, might I recommend either of the other two Moss movies that came out this year?

The Art of Racing in the Rain (Fox)
