New on DVD and Blu-Ray

Warner Bros. offers four 4K upgrades this week, but of that bunch, we’ll just celebrate Beetlejuice‘s release and forget the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmeses and not get into any debates about The Goonies‘ value as anything but a nostalgia object. Kino has the more overall interesting slate of releases this week, with three Agatha Christie adaptations and Lindsay Anderson’s Britannia Hospital, the third and least-known of his trilogy of films starring Malcolm McDowell. But Universal has Irresistible, the comedy that dares to ask the question “Why did Jon Stewart want to embarrass himself like this after he left his show at the exact right time?”. It comes highly recommended for any Chris Cooper devotees who thought that the two 2019 Cooper movies were just too good.
