New on DVD and Blu-Ray

They might be a shit studio, but Paramount’s doing the lord’s work this week, allowing Francis Ford Coppola to continue remixing his back catalogue with a new (and allegedly improved) edit of the film formerly known as The Godfather Part III and bringing Michael Mann to the forefront of new home-video technology with a 4K release of Collateral, which was at the forefront of new filmmaking technology. Aside from them, Lionsgate gives Total Recall a 4K Blu-Ray good enough to give to Richter at that party he’s going to, Criterion upgrades Robert Bresson’s Mouchette and William Greaves’ great whatsit Symbiopsychotaxiplasm, Cronenberg Jr. follows in his dad’s footsteps with the gnarly sci-fi body horror thriller Possessor, and Kino finally reaches the bottom of the Richard Lester barrel with The Return of the Musketeers. God help us if they realize Lester’s Paul McCartney concert movie too.
