New on DVD and Blu-Ray

Not a lot of opportunities for goofs and gags this week, unless you really want to be silly about Joyce Chopra’s unsettling coming-of-age drama Smooth Talk. That’s one of three offerings from Criterion this week, the other two being early neorealist features from Ramin Bahrani. In a rare attempt not to be outdone, the Warner Archive Collection has four titles this week, though none of them are exactly top-shelf offerings. How many Michael Curtiz movies do you have to release before you finally get to My Dream is Yours? How many musicals before it comes time to release the 50s MGM version of Show Boat?
