New on DVD and Blu-Ray

Only 90s kids will appreciate Criterion’s slate this week, offering two of the most beloved comedy-dramas of that decade with Mike Leigh’s Secrets & Lies and Albert Brooks’ Defending Your Life. 70s kids and 2000s kids will be split on Paramount’s releases of both versions of Bad News Bears, or at least they would be if anybody cared all that much about the Richard Linklater version. But kids of any time can enjoy everything else this week has to offer, including Thomas Vinterberg’s surprise Oscar success story Another Round, Ang Lee’s brilliant and uncomfortable Lust, Caution, and the recently-departed Bertrand Tavernier’s miniseries Journeys Through French Cinema. Kids love Tavernier like they love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
