New on DVD and Blu-Ray

Oops. Anyway, the big title this week is their 4K of Jane Campion’s The Piano, but after Criterion’s run of fucking up their 4Ks, it might be best to wait a week and see if anybody notices any problems with it. While you wait, you can get any of this week’s big arthouse titles, including Tsai Ming-Liang’s latest (Days) and first (Rebels of the Neon God) movies and Lynne Ramsay’s hypnotic Morvern Callar. Or you can get the Tony Danza vehicle Going Ape!, the Richard Linklater Bad News Bears remake, or Red Scare Dasha’s directorial debut The Scary of Sixty-First. I’m probably not being fair to at least one of those movies by lumping them in with Going Ape!, but it’s worth noting that Tony Danza, unlike Linklater and Dasha, was never palling around with Alex Jones. At least I think he wasn’t.
