New on DVD and Blu-Ray

A stacked week for catalog titles (centered in the 80s for whatever reason, most unexpectedly with the 4K of Martha Coolidge’s Real Genius) and not a terrible one for new releases, especially if you count George Romero’s recently-unearthed The Amusement Park. While his brother Martin is the talk of the festival circuit, John Michael McDonagh’s new film The Forgiven comes out on Blu-Ray as quietly as it came out in theaters, a Ralph Fiennes-Jessica Chastain drama that no one has yet cared enough to check out. Perhaps they were too busy flocking to Elvis, one of the year’s surprise sensations and soon to be a very interesting companion piece to a Sofia Coppola movie.
