The End Is Nigh In The Newest Trailer For Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

The Hunger Games is ending this Fall, and while Lionsgate will doubtlessly create numerous spin-offs to extend the shelf life of the franchise, the saga of Katniss Everdeen is likely ending with Mockingjay: Part 2. An impressive ensemble of actors (Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland, Phillip Seymour Hoffman) have come together to be in this feature, which released a new trailer late last week that you can watch below.

For those like me who felt the first Mockingjay film was a bit uneventful, well, this certainly does the trick doesn’t it? All sorts of mayhem is going on here, including an attack by what look the vampires from Priest. Thankfully, the relationships between the characters are also on display here, hopefully meaning this film won’t end up being a Transformers-like collision of chaos and noise.

I haven’t read the book on which Mockingjay is based on (I did read the first two books though. Excelsior for literature!), but I do know that it disappointed some fans for a myriad of reasons. I’m sure Lionsgate is hoping that this cinematic adaptation of that novel doesn’t elicit a similar response, and while The Hunger Games has been a hit-or-miss franchise (Catching Fire was excellent, but good Lord that first one was underwhelming) I do eagerly await this final entry in the saga, especially considering how exciting this trailer is.
